From an Oops Moment to Sustainable Innovation – The Story Behind ADW Designs
A few years ago, I made a huge mistake—spilling leather dye on our dining table. As you can imagine, my wife wasn’t thrilled, so I promised I’d make it up to her by building a brand-new table. Inspired by the beautiful resin river tables I had seen online, I decided to take on the challenge. But when I saw the price tags on these tables, I thought, "Why not try to build one myself?"
It didn't take long to realize why they’re so expensive. The high-quality hardwoods used in these stunning designs come at a steep cost. After all, many of these trees take up to 150 years to mature before they can be felled for timber.
And that got me thinking… how sustainable is this?
So, I set out to create something better—furniture that’s not only beautiful and unique, but also responsible. I started making bespoke furniture using only recycled timber, proving you don’t need to spend a fortune or harm the planet to get stunning, high-quality pieces. This is how ADW Designs was born.
But there’s more! As I worked with reclaimed wood, I realized there were small offcuts that couldn’t be used in larger furniture. Instead of letting them go to waste, I found a creative solution. Using our lathe and CNC machine, We started crafting custom pens, pencils, and other turned objects—each piece as unique and sustainable as the next.
